Les Courmettes is located on a slope of the Prealps (Alpes Maritime, France), south-facing, and about 15 km from the Mediterranean. The climate is Mediterranean characterized by warm and humid sea winds, and cold air mass and orographic rains due to the relief of the Prealps. Summers are dry due to low rainfall, especially in July with an average of 10 mm of precipitation, and warm but moderate temperatures averaging 22°C. The average annual temperature is 15.5°C and the average rainfall over the year is 770 mm; by way of comparison, the average annual temperature in Dijon (21) is 10.5°C and the average rainfall is 770 mm. It should be specified that the precipitation in Tourette sur loup are mostly during the winter seasons, especially at the end of the year with about 110 mm. The soil is shallow, the rock is sometimes outcroped, and the plots are gently sloping; the soil configuration is thus very draining and has a low water reserve.
